Úlfrekr Tóstason or as he is more commonly known Ulfrik inn fagri (Ulfrik the vain). 

Born in northern Norway, he laboured on a farm as a child before he decided to go out and seek adventure. Almost stumbling into a trader who’s ship had become stranded Úlfrekr helped him get seaborn again and was rewarded with a place in the trader’s crew. During his time aboard ship, he was taught by the mercenaries aboard how to fight. He soon moved on to another employer and protected trade goods all over the known world. From the bleak landscape of Northumbria to the hot sands of Skerkland (The middle east).

Úlfrekr met Valtyr in Gokstad while breaking up a fight at a bar and have been friends and brothers since. They both joined the caravan of Floki hinn Kaldr as mercenaries to protect his wares and fight for him when required.

During his time with Drengskapt Hird, Úlfrekr was given wealth and power by the Jarl, he is one of the Jarl’s Hersir and organises the Jarl’s thrall’s and business as well as sharing the burden of leadership with the other Hersir.

Úlfrekr is earned his name ‘the vain’ as he can often be found staring into his polished shield boss to make sure his hair looks good enough for the enemy, a practice that he is often ridiculed for by other, smellier, members of the Hird.

Úlfrekr is a valued warrior and member of the Hird and his saga is not yet over.
