Bersi Bollisen, Hersir to Floki hinn Kaldr, Son of Bolli Hamarrmund and Jorunn Neridottir, called haelf pund or ‘half pound’ due to his slim frame, from Norway originally and now from Iceland, when he was young he learned to fight like all boys. His father, a particularly strong warrior and a powerful man, was made wealthy by raiding in Hibernia.
Getting on in age and suffering from sweet sickness, his father has settled in a hall with some land in Iceland. Having inherited his father’s stoutness if not his height, Bersi proved to be an immovable object in the shield wall. He had raided and for in Hibernia and around Northumbria as Hersir to Jarl Floki hinn Kaldr and Jarl Hrothgar Hyrrskeggjadr, eventually returning to Floki.
Currently he is in the south west of wessex following a trading caravan with Floki, but he is also looking to take land on the border of Cornwall and as such often comes into conflict with the Thegn of Langhewis.
Having made himself wealthy raiding he now prides himself on his martial prowess and can often be found training his bondsmen, and any others that will listen, the tricks of his trade. He is known in the warband to be a man never to fight unfairly and once a deal is made he shall not be the one to break it. It is said he makes his bondsmen swear oaths of honour to never stab an opponent from behind, and that if they do his own blade shall cut them down.
He follows the gods of the Norse but acknowledges the power of the Christian god and when in Christian lands will often wear his Mjolnir under his clothes and wear his cross on his chest, he has yet to attend a Christian mass or be baptised however.
His hopes for the future are to take a wife and settle in Wessex, be it under Danish or Saxon rule, it matters not as he has never been fond of the Danish, seeing them as the softer of the Scandinavians. He hopes to achieve this by showing his martial prowess and taking lands off of the fat Thegn of Langhewis, that is if there isn’t something else that takes his fancy first.
