Sewing is used in kit creation and is an important skill that every re-enactor should hope to use. While machine stitching can be used on the inside of of kit, such as inside seams, any visible sewing should be hand sewn, such as hems.

There are four main stitches to use when making kit and links to tutorials are provided below:
Traditionally when making kit, the thread would match the material colour, not only does it help with dyeing it also looks more professional.
If sewing in camp, make sure the correct thread is used (linen, cotton or wool) as well as traditional bone needles. They are available through our approved traders list: Approved Traders Lists
