Long Knife

The seax was a status of freedom as much as a fighting knife, it also denoted someone as a warrior. It is thought many seax’s weren’t actually used for combat due to the fact that their sheaths covered virtually all of the handle of the knife, making it very impractical to be drawn in any sort of battle scenario. Practically all seax sheaths found have been heavily decorated.
